Roofing in Taylors

Roofing for Taylors and the Eastside

Ten minutes down Wade Hampton: older neighborhoods under bigger trees, roofs from the '80s and '90s coming due, and more Helene damage than almost anywhere in the county.

Residential street in Greer, SC in autumn with brick-front and vinyl-sided homes under tall pines

Taylors is Greer's older neighbor — the neighborhoods between Wade Hampton and Paris Mountain, Brushy Creek, the Eastside subdivisions off Brushy Creek Road and Edwards Road, the mill village around the old Taylors Mill — and the roofs reflect it. A lot of 1970s to '90s three-tab and early architectural roofs, many on their second layer, under oaks and pines that have had 40 years to grow over them. Helene dropped those trees on hundreds of Taylors roofs, and the wind damage on the ones that survived is still showing up as leaks.

We're in Taylors weekly for repairs, storm claims and replacements. Greenville County handles permits for unincorporated Taylors; we pull them. The neighborhoods around Paris Mountain add steep lots and long driveways that affect access; the Eastside HOAs have color and material rules we know. Free inspections, honest about whether the roof needs a repair or a claim.

Questions from Taylors homeowners

Is my Helene damage still claimable?

Check your policy's reporting deadline — many allow a year from the date of loss, some less. If you have unrepaired damage from that storm, get it inspected and documented now.

My roof has two layers. Does it all have to come off?

Yes — SC code allows two layers and you're at the limit, and no manufacturer warranties a roof over an old one. Tear-off is on the estimate per square; decking replacement is priced per sheet.

Do you handle the county permit?

Yes. Unincorporated Taylors is Greenville County; the permit and inspection are part of the job.

Can you match my old shingles for a repair?

Often, for shingles made in the last 15 years. Discontinued colors get the closest match, and if a whole slope is damaged and can't be matched, that's a basis for the insurer to replace more.
